Want to be the next GSSPC? The graduate student symposium planning committee (GSSPC) is a group that organizes and executes a symposium at the ACS meeting. GSSPC groups are given full autonomy in planning an ACS national meeting symposium. This includes, but is not limited to topic selection, fundraising, speaker recruitment, and logistical arrangements. In addition to planning national meeting symposia, teams must also commit to ensuring the continuation of the program by recruiting future GSSPC groups and mentoring successive groups.
Apply now to host the Graduate Student Symposium at the Fall 2020 ACS National Meeting, to be held from August 16th-20th in San Francisco.
To apply:
1. Form a group of 6-8 graduate students
2. Compose a 1-page mission statement outlining why your group wants to be the next GSSPC
3. Propose 2 symposium themes along with a list of 8-12 potential speakers for each theme
4. Provide a short biography of each member of your committee
All materials must be submitted as a PDF to [email protected] by May 1st, 2019.
